Fahad Mohammed Al-Shibl, the executive director of the National Company for the Unified Purchase of Medicines, Devices and Medical Supplies «NUPCO» confirmed that the company is about to launch a new evaluation system by the end of this year and that the products approved by the Food and Drug Authority are technically accepted by the company, registered and available for purchase, pointing out that The main objective for which «NUPCO» was launched is to provide high quality and low-cost medicines and medical supplies, and that the company is now in the process of expanding the unified procurement process, and implementing contract and competition management with suppliers directly.
This came during the meeting held on Monday, August 24, 2020, the Asharqia Chamber, represented by the Health Committee, headed by Saud bin Muhammad Al-Thumairi, and in the presence of the Executive Vice President for Unified Procurement, Fahd bin Muhammad Al-Buthe, and shed light on the most prominent activities of the company and its future initiatives, and its mechanisms for offering competitions, and discussing opportunities for The company provides it to small and medium enterprises.
Fahad Al-Shibl said that the company, through establishing an advanced system that manages the unified procurement of medicines, devices, and medical supplies, has succeeded in enabling local content in the health sector procurement and helped provide all the needs of health authorities and equip hospitals to serve citizens in a number of regions of the Kingdom and that it was able to prove its ability on organizing unified procurement processes and managing competitions, explaining that the company is based on implementing standardized procurement processes on infrastructure with modern technologies that keep pace with digital transformation, referring to the initiative of the unified electronic guide for medical items, which has become an approved reference for prices locally and internationally, linking supply contracts with operational consumers.
Al-Shibl explained that, through an integrated electronic system, the company has achieved the maximum operational and financial performance, including supplier registration, competition processes, receipt of bids and contract management.
Al-Shibl emphasized Nubco’s continuity in offering innovative programs such as the (My Prescription) platform, which currently cooperates with more than 1,865 commercial pharmacies and provided 3 million electronic prescriptions from 29 hospitals and 852 primary health care centers, pointing to a service that provides technology solutions in the field of drug dispensing. In a way that enhances our effective role with our partners in the health field, and that it came in line with the 2030 vision, under the auspices of the Ministry of Health and with the participation of private sector pharmacies and drug suppliers, indicating that it is one of the initiatives that aims to raise the level of health services, and to achieve a qualitative leap in the beneficiary's experience of sectors services Government Health Ministry, as it allows him to dispense medicine from the pharmacy closest to him and at the time convenient for him, free of charge.
Al-Shibl indicated that (My Prescription) provides many advantages, such as the possibility of dispensing medicines from different locations geographically in the Kingdom, and that it avoids medical errors that result from handwriting, as well as automatic verification of drug conflicts and sensitive medicines to the beneficiary, and it also provides the option of re-dispensing for patients with chronic diseases and provides alerts Via text messages of the status of the electronic prescription in addition to the feature to view previous prescriptions and doctor's instructions at any time.
